WNY health care workers gather for ‘Code Red’ rally

BUFFALO, N.Y. (WIVB) — Hundreds of local health care workers joined thousands more from across the state in Albany on Monday in what they call a “code red” for health care.

It was a response to recent federal health care funding reductions.

“We got with thousands … we’re fired up, we can’t take it anymore,” said Shameka Burnette-Mathews, administrative organizer with 1199SEIU United Workers East. “This affects not just us, it affects you, it affects them, it affects their families.”…
