A fast ride in a stolen Dodge Charger led to a slow ride to the grand jury on multiple charges for one Clarksville man.
According to an arrest report from the Cheatham County Sheriff’s Office (CCSO), in the early morning hours of Sunday, Dec. 21, Dispatch was advised by the Montgomery County Sheriff’s Office that a white Dodge Charger had just been reported stolen. A CCSO deputy then saw a white Dodge Charger without its taillights on traveling eastbound on Interstate 24 near the 24 mile marker. The deputy tried to pull over the vehicle, but it wouldn’t stop, and the vehicle quickly ramped up its speed to in excess of 130 miles per hour, even after the deputy activated his emergency equipment.
After repeated unsuccessful attempts to get the vehicle to stop, deputies deployed spike strips near Exit 31, which caused the vehicle to stop on the right shoulder of the road. The deputy said two men then exited the vehicle and fled on foot into the woods nearby…
