Police ID man accused of four carjackings, firing at cops in chase across Cleveland

CLEVELAND, Ohio – A Cleveland man faces charges in what authorities say was a chaotic carjacking spree that spawned a chase through the city and a gun battle with police in which the suspect was shot.

Rueben Bell, 38, was charged Friday in Cleveland’s Municipal Court with three counts of felonious assault on a peace officer. Additional charges are expected, including aggravated robbery and leading police on a pursuit. He is due back in court on Monday, records show.

The series of carjackings began just before 9 p.m. Tuesday when Cleveland police were alerted to a person carjacked at gunpoint around the 4200 block of West 150th Street. Police then received calls for another carjacking in the 6500 block of Quimby Avenue, and another on East 79th Street and Superior Avenue.
