NACS votes on new boundaries for district middle schools

FORT WAYNE, Ind. (WANE) — The Northwest Allen County Schools (NACS) voted to approve a new set of boundaries for their middle schools on Monday night.

NACS says its rebalancing plan is due to the opening of Willow Creek Middle School this fall, as well as to accommodate growth as Carroll Middle and Maple Creek are both at capacity.

“Right now, we have over 1000 students in those schools,” Superintendent Wayne Barker said. “They’re not designed for that many. If you walk the hallways, it’s very crowded. The classrooms are very crowded. So what will happen next year is we’ll have a much better middle school experience for all of our middle school students. Our schools will be much more balanced, we’ll be able to have appropriate class sizes, we’ll be able to have better related arts programs, we’ll be able to provide a better lunch experience, and a better passing experience from one class to the next. So we’re looking forward to that.”…
