GREENVILLE, S.C. (WSPA) – Council voted Monday night to advance a plan that would give retirees, who are already receiving pension checks, a one-time, cost-of-living adjustment that would be built into their monthly payments going forward.
The adjustment is based on a 2.3% cost-of-living increase (COLA), which would be divided into retirees’ monthly pension checks. It is not a yearly raise, but rather a permanent increase added to their existing benefit.
