MEMPHIS, Tenn — Shelby County Commissioners have voted, in a unanimous decision, ordering the Shelby County Clerk’s Office to pay off the rent at the Clerk’s office in Millington.
The dispute stems from claims made by Millington City Manager Frankie Dakin back in September 2025, claiming that Shelby County Clerk Wanda Halbert had not paid rent since 2023 and now owes more than $30,000 to the City of Millington.
While the original resolution, as written in the meeting agenda, states that the Clerk’s office must pay $28,800, Commissioner Edmund Ford Jr. motioned for an amendment adding $9,600 to the resolution, ensuring that the debt would be paid in full without the commission having to discuss the matter on a later date…
