PROVIDENCE – After the demolition of the Duck and Bunny building on Wickenden Street, dreams of the “snuggery” restaurant coming back to Wickenden Street have been shattered after the vacant land was sold to a local developer.
Duck & Bunny, a beloved restaurant on Providence’s East Side, self-described as the city’s only “snuggery,” closed in 2019 for renovations. Then the building was torn down two years later, in 2021. At the time, restaurateur Dan Becker was besieged by what he described as vitriol, calling it a “nightmare,” and promising that the restaurant would come back.
According to city property records, Becker bought the property in 2018 for $405,000 and sold the vacant lot for $500,000 on Dec. 2, 2025. The lot is 3,915 square feet…
