Wilmington city council member catches heat for Facebook post

A Facebook post from a Wilmington City Council member has stirred up controversy with statewide police organizations.

Council member Shané Darby, who represents north Wilmington, posted a picture of police officers with white hoods over their heads in the same style as the Ku Klux Klan on Jan. 9. The graphic is the cover of “Blue Klux Klan,” an album from Trenton-based artist Wise Intelligent from 2017.

“Modern policing in the U.S., especially in the South, evolved from slave patrols and was later reinforced by groups like the KKK,” she said in the Facebook post. “Now argue with your momma about that, Happy Friday!”…
