Police investigating after multiple shots are fired outside UCCS following reported dispute

COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. (KKTV) – An argument appears to have led to multiple shots fired at the UCCS campus late Monday night.

UCCS and Colorado Springs police responded to the university just before 10:30 p.m. after both agencies received several calls reporting a series of loud bangs in the area of the school.

When officers got on scene, they learned a suspect had shot at a student, stemming from some sort of confrontation in a campus parking lot. Based on the investigation, police say the suspect — who is not believed to have any connection with the university — was hanging around the campus and grew agitated when the student pulled into a parking space. A police lieutenant tells 11 News the suspect confronted the student after they got out of their vehicle, and the confrontation escalated when the pulled out a gun.
