Stark County deputies investigating second Dollar General armed robbery; cases may be connected

The Stark County Sheriff’s Office is investigating a second armed robbery at a Dollar General in the county within four days, and investigators say the incidents may be connected.

Sheriff’s spokesperson Connie Deibel said deputies received a 1:36 p.m. call Tuesday reporting an armed robbery at the Dollar General at 9141 Cleveland Ave. SE in East Sparta. The case remains under investigation and may be related to the previous robbery, Deibel said.

On Friday morning, Jan. 9, an armed suspect robbed the Dollar General in Waynesburg. Deputies received a 9:38 a.m. call for a robbery in progress at the store at 8565 Waynesburg Drive SE. Deibel said the suspect displayed a weapon and fled the scene with an undetermined amount of money before deputies arrived. No injuries were reported.
