MENANDS, N.Y. (NEWS10) — An Albany woman has been arrested after she allegedly abandoned her dog outside the Mohawk Hudson Humane Society, leading to its death, according to the Albany County Sheriff’s Office. Brigitte Gaston, 62, faces a misdemeanor charge.

Authorities responded to the humane society, located in Menands, following a report of an abandoned dog found on the property in cold weather conditions. The 4-pound terrier mix was reportedly inside a box and in poor condition.
Gaston had allegedly placed the box, with the dog inside, on the property without making any attempts to notify anyone inside the facility at the time. The dog later died from severe hypothermia despite immediate efforts from Mohawk Hudson Humane Society staff to save the animal, the sheriff’s office said.
Gaston was found and arrested at her home on Tuesday. She was charged with abandonment of animals and released on an appearance ticket, scheduled to appear in the Village of Menands Criminal Court at a later date…
