Maryland Man Killed, 3 Hurt After Violent Early-Morning I-95 Crash Snarls Commute In Elkridge

State police troopers were called shortly after 5:30 a.m. on Monday, Jan. 12, to a stretch of the southbound lanes of the interstate near Route 100 in Elkridge, where there was a fatal crash that led to lengthy lane closures.

The driver of the refuse collection truck, Lazaro Miranda, 47, of Baltimore, was pronounced dead at the scene by emergency medical service personnel, according to Maryland State Police.

Police said Miranda’s truck struck the back of a 2014 Volvo tractor-trailer that was parked on the right shoulder of southbound I-95 for reasons that remain under investigation…
