“Buffalo…who knew” that Buffalo Architecture: Alternative Guide has Launched?

“Buffalo…who knew” that our architectural richness has so much depth that there is now a mobile-based guide that provides visibility of, and exposure to, overlooked spaces and marginalized histories (such Black architecture) beyond the famous master architects represented in this city (Wright, Richardson, Sullivan, etc)?

Buffalo Architecture: Alternative Guide has launched to create an accessible resource that contrasts with traditional guides that highlight the city’s wealth of historic landmarks. Moreover, the Guide emphasizes modern needs for smaller, efficient, and reusable buildings while exploring how Buffalo’s unique past (Erie Canal, Olmsted parks) informs today’s urban landscape and architecture.
