Dunedin’s Main Street has plenty fighting for your attention, but Hot Dogs on Main says, “No, you want a hot dog,” and it’s right. The takeout shop at 505 Main Street has been slinging Vienna Beef franks for 15 years, proving that sometimes lunch does not need a personality, it needs a bun.
It’s one of the most affordable spots in town, and the menu has plenty of options for any palate. Start with The Main Dog “au naturel,” ketchup, mustard, relish and onion for $4.25. Then go full Chicago, with tomato, pickle, onion, relish, sport peppers and celery salt on a poppy seed bun. The Brooklyn Dog keeps it tight with sauerkraut and spicy mustard, while the Reuben Dog adds sauerkraut, Russian dressing and Swiss, basically a deli sandwich disguised as street food.
Most specialty dogs sit in the $5 to $7 range, so you can experiment without starting a GoFundMe. Extra toppings run about 50 cents. This is a budget-friendly lunch spot…
