The halls at Cathedral Prep were filled with holiday spirit with this year’s Christmas Door Decorating Competition. Students went with their activity groups and used materials they brought from home to make decorations to use on their classroom doors. Each of the groups had to work together to create a fun and festive design. After the doors were finished, teachers walked around the school and were able to vote for the best ones in different categories.
The Best Pun award went to Dr. J. McLaughlin’s Room 402 for “Duke the Halls.” This door had Christmas lights, a giant Santa Claus, and mini elves with the face of Prep’s Assistant Principal Mr. James Duke. The play on words made it fun and creative.
Best Interactive was won by Ms. Mackensen’s Room 400 with “Holiday Movie Hunt.” The door looked like a snowy town and challenged students to find different Christmas movie references hidden in the decorations. Students would have to stop and look closely to take part.
The Best Christmas Movie award went to Mrs. Vomero’s Room 406 for “Mickey Mouse Christmas.” The door showed Mickey Mouse holding a candle next to a Christmas tree with presents underneath. Along with the words “Be the light.” Mrs. Vomero was very happy with the class’ result.
“The students really pulled together this year,” Mrs. Vomero said. “They did a great job creating a door representing the school’s theme of ‘Be the light.’”…
