One of Grand Rapids’ most beloved and acclaimed restaurants has announced it will be temporarily shutting its doors. But don’t worry, it won’t be for long. Yesterdog, one of the city’s most iconic restaurants visited by the likes of Barack Obama and Aiden Hutchinson, will be closed from January 12th to the 18th.

The announcement comes as new owners Pat & Lisa Connor begin their first full year as owners of Yesterdog after acquiring it from longtime owner Bill Lewis. Here is the reason for the temporary closure.
Yesterdog Closes For Maintenance
On January 12th, Yesterdog announced on its Facebook page that the restaurant would be closed all week for routine building maintenance and would reopen on January 19th. Many people immediately feared in the comments that this “routine maintenance” would leave its iconic walls, covered in signatures and drawings over the years, to disappear.
However, Pat and Lisa made a pact not to change anything inside during their announcement as the new owners:
We didn’t buy Yesterdog to change it. Same dogs. Same crew. Same old school vibe. We’re just here to make sure nobody else comes in and messes with a good thing…
