Work is getting underway on a $7.6 million Food City in Athens.
A building permit was issued for the building at 17878 Lucas Ferry Road on Jan. 8. J A Street & Associates of Blountville, Tennessee is the contractor. The grocery store chain broke ground on the store in August.
The store is the most expensive project issued a permit since the start of the year. Eight projects exceeding $1 million have been issued a permit through Jan. 13. Overall, 301 building permits have been issued in Madison, Limestone and Morgan counties so far this month, totaling $77.7 million, according to reportconstruction.com…
