LANSING, Mich. (WLNS) — Ingham County has criminally charged two people for their involvement in a deadly drag racing-related crash on April 24, 2025 on S. Martin Luther King, Jr. Blvd.
John-Jewel Velasquez-Hicks, 19, was arraigned in 54-A District Court Tuesday morning. He’s charged with one count of reckless driving causing death and one count of reckless driving causing serious impairment of bodily function.
The crash involved five vehicles, killing one person and injuring 13.
If convicted on the reckless driving causing death charge, Velasquez-Hicks could face up to 15 years in prison and/or a fine of $2,500 to $10,000. If convicted of the reckless driving causing serious impairment charge, he could face up to five years in prison and/or a fine of $1,000 to $5,000…
