Self-defense protection unlikely to apply after Horry County road rage shooting, Richardson says

HORRY COUNTY, S.C. (WBTW) — A high-profile shooting on Highway 90 last week that ended in the shooting death of a Nichols man has led some to wonder if South Carolina’s stand your ground law may be used as a defense.

And 15th Circuit Solicitor Jimmy Richardson said he wouldn’t be surprised if that happens, as it almost always comes up in such cases.

Authorities have charged Elijah Thurman Taylor of Nakina, N.C., with murder and possession of a weapon during a violent crime. He’s being held without bond at the J. Reuben Long Detention Center…
