Los Angeles man sentenced in Sacramento for fake ID scheme

SACRAMENTO, Calif. — A Los Angeles man has been sentenced to 15 months in prison for identity document fraud and illegal reentry. U.S. District Judge William B. Shubb handed down the sentence to 43-year-old Javier Aguilera Rosas, according to U.S. Attorney Eric Grant.

Rosas was involved in transferring at least 20 false identification documents between August 2020 and December 2023. Buyers contacted Rosas via text to request fraudulent passports, driver’s licenses, and Social Security cards.
