HOUSTON — According to court documents, on Dec. 17, 2025, a woman was locking up for the night at her job at an Ace check cashing business on Garth Road in Baytown when she noticed a man parked near a dumpster. He was later identified as suspect Jerome Ruben.
The woman told investigators she realized the man was following her as she drove home, reportedly tracking her all the way from Baytown to her South Houston apartment.
Victim says she was forced back to Baytown
The woman told authorities she initially parked away from her usual spot at her apartment complex and waited about 10 minutes, watching for the man to reappear. When she did not see him, she moved to her regular parking spot and got out of the car.
That is when, according to court documents, the suspect met her, pointed a gun and forced her back into her car, ordering her to drive back to her job in Baytown. Once they returned to the check cashing business parking lot, court documents state he forced her into the backseat and sexually assaulted her.

Investigators say the man then tried to force the woman to help him get into the Ace check cashing business to rob it. According to court documents, he allegedly tried to compel her to use her access code, but she instead entered a panic code, preventing them from getting inside…
