Strong winds, colder temperatures expected across Kansas this week

WICHITA, Kan. (KWCH) – A weak frontal boundary will slide across the area late tonight and early Wednesday morning, bringing a slight chance of showers to central and eastern Kansas. Don’t expect much rain though.

The bigger story Wednesday is the wind. Gusty northerly winds will pick up early in the morning and continue throughout the day as the cold front pushes through. Temperatures will drop back to the middle and upper 40s—closer to normal for mid-January.

Friday forecast to be windiest day

Friday is shaping up to be the windiest day of the week. Some areas in central Kansas could see gusts over 50 mph.

Wind like that can knock over trash cans, make driving difficult (especially for high-profile vehicles), and cause minor damage to outdoor items. Make sure anything loose in your yard is secured before Friday afternoon.

Weekend brings much colder air

Be prepared for much colder air heading into the weekend with Saturday highs only in the low to mid 30s. It will remain breezy all the way through the weekend…
