Box jellyfish keeps Ocean Safety, EMS busy over the weekend

Over the weekend, Honolulu Ocean Safety and Honolulu Emergency Medical Services jointly responded to 13 box jellyfish-related incidents, according to a news release.

The incidents numbered eight in the Ala Moana Beach area, three from a tour boat just off Kuhio Beach, one in the waters near the Kapahulu groin, and a canoe paddler outside Waikiki. The parents of the youngest victim, 3, in Waikiki transported him/her to the hospital. Five individuals required additional medical assistance from Honolulu EMS.
