Shelby County Commission makes moves on expansion of Alabaster Boulevard

COLUMBIANA – The Shelby County Commission welcomed a packed a crowd to the Shelby County Administration Building for its first meeting of 2026, a time where many items of business were discussed and approved.

During a regularly scheduled meeting on Monday, Jan. 12, the Shelby County Commission approved a resolution allowing the county to perform the necessary actions to procure an easement and right-of-way for a part of Alabaster Boulevard that is set to be expanded.

The expansion project calls for Alabaster Boulevard to be connected down all the way to where it meets the intersection of U.S. Highway 31 and South Colonial Parkway, where a traffic light currently stands…
