Man charged with evading arrest, assault in Brentwood pursuit that injured state trooper

BRENTWOOD, Tenn. (WZTV) — A man is facing various charges after a police pursuit in Brentwood over the weekend ended with a Tennessee Highway Patrol trooper being hospitalized.

A preliminary report says Cortez Braxton, 33, of Tennessee is charged with assault on a law enforcement officer, among other offenses, after authorities say he fled a traffic stop.

Police say the incident began when Braxton fled a traffic stop on I-65 north near the 72-mile marker in Williamson County. The driver exited at Old Hickory Boulevard and drove the wrong way, causing a head-on collision with another vehicle near Brentwood Trace…
