Franklin County School Board cuts into massive budget deficit

ROCKY MOUNT, Va. (WFXR) During a December Board of Supervisors meeting, Franklin County Public Schools Superintendent Kevin Siers revealed the school system operated with a massive budget deficit during the last fiscal year.

Due to what was referred to as an accounting error, $2.6 million from fiscal year 2024 was transferred as revenue to be received during fiscal year 2025, which was a mistake. The school board found itself in a $1.4 million hole.

“I’m incredibly sorry for the stress and anxiety this has caused the faculty and staff members, and especially to those who will be impacted financially,” Siers said…
