Elkton man caught with half-pound of fentanyl pleads guilty

ELKTON — A man caught with nearly a half-pound of fentanyl and more than $2,000 when investigators raided his residence near Elkton in August is facing up to 20 years in prison after accepting a plea deal, according to Cecil County Circuit Court records.

The defendant — John Tillman Boyce, 43 — pleaded guilty to possession of fentanyl with intent to distribute during Monday’s courtroom hearing, court records show.

As part of the plea agreement reached by Assistant State’s Attorney Henry Smithmyer and Boyce’s defense lawyer, Emily Gillis, the state agreed to dismiss 11 related charges against him, including possession of a large amount of a controlled and dangerous substance…
