WILMINGTON, N.C. (WECT) – A Burgaw man pleaded guilty Tuesday, Jan. 13, to felony death by vehicle and driving while impaired in connection with a fatal hit-and-run crash that killed a bicyclist in April 2025.
David Allen Neely, 68, was sentenced to a minimum of 84 months and a maximum of 113 months. The second-degree murder charge was dismissed under the plea agreement, according to court records.
Court documents show that the court recommends Neely receive psychiatric and psychological counseling and substance abuse treatment. He also surrendered his license on Tuesday, Jan. 13.
