House GOP Unveils “Big Beautiful Bill” Aimed at Slashing Deficit by $1 Trillion

Washington D.C. – The House Republican Conference’s largest conservative faction has rolled out a blueprint for a second “big beautiful bill” designed to tackle the nation’s affordability crisis and the burgeoning federal deficit. The framework, introduced by Republican Study Committee Chairman August Pfluger (R-Texas), outlines a budget reconciliation bill that could potentially pass through Congress with only Republican support.

This ambitious legislative roadmap proposes significant restructuring of ObamaCare subsidies and a reduction in regulations to boost domestic energy production. The overarching goal is to lower costs for Americans and trim the federal deficit by an impressive $1 trillion, according to Fox Digital.

The proposed measure is envisioned as a successor to the recently rebranded “Working Families Tax Cut,” which was initially known as the “One Big, Beautiful Bill.” Utilizing the special budget reconciliation process, Republicans could bypass the Senate’s typical 60-vote threshold, allowing for the passage of party-line budget and tax initiatives.

However, a broad consensus on the specifics of the package is still in development. “We spent a lot of time looking at what the theme of a reconciliation bill should be, what is the overlapping area that we all care about.

And I would also submit to you that Democrats care about this as well,” stated Rep. Pfluger.

He added, “The details of exactly which bills will be included, that’s the hard work that we now will embark upon.”

An 11-page document obtained by Fox Digital suggests that “affordability” will be a central theme of the legislation. Key proposals include housing reforms aimed at increasing access to homeownership, and healthcare reforms that would reconfigure ObamaCare subsidies into a health savings account model, directing funds directly to consumers rather than insurance companies. The bill also seeks to codify existing executive actions designed to reduce prescription drug costs and presidential energy deregulation policies intended to lower prices for U.S. oil and natural gas.

Beyond affordability, the framework incorporates a range of Republican priorities outlined over the past year. These include limiting federal transportation funding for states and cities that grant driver’s licenses to undocumented immigrants, as well as for “sanctuary jurisdictions” that are deemed to violate federal law and undermine border security efforts. The document estimates these measures could save approximately $76.3 billion in federal funds.

“We believe it meets the moment, and we’re ready at the table. I think this is the great starting point that we need to have that momentum,” said Rep.

Pfluger, who was joined by House Budget Committee Chairman Jodey Arrington (R-Texas). Arrington’s committee will play a crucial role in advancing any budget reconciliation bill.

This legislative push comes as House Republicans navigate a razor-thin majority, recently impacted by the resignation of former Rep. Marjorie Taylor Greene (R-Ga.) and the unexpected passing of Rep. Doug LaMalfa (R-Calif.), as reported by Fox Digital.
