ROCKFORD — A new restaurant offering Chicago-style food is coming to an East State Street site that’s been vacant since an intentionally set fire damaged the building more than two years ago.
Signs went up near the end of last year for Jimmy’s: Authentic Chicago Style Food at 3511 E. State St., which is between Scooter’s Coffee and Popeyes Louisiana Chicken just east of Fairview Boulevard.
There’s no set timeline for when the restaurant would open. Attempts to reach the restaurant’s owners by phone and through social media messages were unsuccessful. We’ll provide an update if we hear back. The owner of the property said the restaurant operator was targeting a spring opening…
