Driver rescued in West Valley after car flips into small pond near SR-201

WEST VALLEY CITY, Utah (KUTV) — A man was rescued after his car went off the road and flipped into a small pond near State Route 201 in West Valley.

Lt. Steve Kats with the West Valley City Police Department said officers and firefighters responded to the scene around 8:20 p.m. on Tuesday, after a passing driver called in the crash.

The man in the crashed vehicle, who has not been identified, had to be extricated from the car and taken to a local area hospital out of precaution. He reportedly suffered only minor injuries.

“The gentleman could have been in much more danger had he been trapped in that water,” said Lt. Katz. “Obviously, [it’s] very very cold and [he] could potentially have drowned had the car filled with more water.”…
