PORTLAND, Ore. (KOIN) – The cold east wind is returning to the Columbia River Gorge and the Portland metropolitan area later this week.
An area of surface high pressure is building east of the Cascades as cold dry Canadian air settles across the Columbia basin of eastern Washington and northcentral Oregon.
The east wind will begin to pick up across Portland on Thursday and will be the strongest on Friday. It will last into the weekend.
Wind gusts in the range of 40-45 miles per hour are likely near Troutdale and eastern parts of Multnomah County. Even stronger wind is expected in the Columbia River Gorge with wind gusts as high as 50-55 mph at river level…
