NEWPORT NEWS, Va. — Police in Newport News say they’ve made an arrest in a deadly shooting that happened in 2023.
The shooting happened late on the night of June 17, 2023, in the 400 block of North Chalice Court in the King’s Ridge Apartments. Officers arrived to find 41-year-old Phillip Dewayne Murphy Jr. outside of the apartments, suffering from at least one gunshot wound. He was pronounced dead at the scene.
