Here are some facts and sequences for the next 48 hours…
- Mild for this time of year (probably not getting below freezing in most areas) tonight with little precipitation (if any) and gusty southwest winds.
- A few flakes or drops tomorrow morning, and then a temperature drop as snow picks up tomorrow afternoon.
- For this first hit, Winter Weather Advisories from 11AM Wednesday to 1AM Friday (Map 1) and now the National Weather Service has put southern Erie County (south of I-90) into a Lake Effect Snow Warning for the same time frame.
- Watch out for a slippery evening rush Tomorrow (Wednesday) afternoon as temps fall and untreated surfaces drop below freezing (Map 2).
- As far as snow goes…probably 1-3″ city and lakeshore…4-9″ Traditional snowbelts south and east of I-90 (Map 3).
- Bitterly cold Thursday with highs barely reaching 20 and wind chills +5 to -5
- Snow winds down Thursday night.
THEN A BREAK…
- Still some snow showers off and on, but no big accumulations Friday and Saturday.
- Temps. recover somewhat into the 30s for highs.
