JACKSON, Miss. (WLBT) – Documents dating back to 2022 show that Mayor Chokwe Antar Lumumba was believed to be accepting kickbacks from a local lobbyist.
This week, Hinds County District Attorney Jody Owens filed a motion to dismiss the charges against him in a federal corruption case, saying the FBI lied to the grand jury about several aspects of the investigation into the Jackson bribery scheme.
The 68-page motion was filed on Monday, along with hundreds of pages of exhibits, including an FBI communication showing that the former mayor was believed to be taking kickbacks from a lobbyist in exchange for contracts with the city…
