Private jets and free-flowing alcohol: More details revealed in bribery scheme implicating four local leaders

JACKSON, Miss. (WLBT) – Private jets, penthouses, and refrigerators filled with alcohol were all part of the strategy Hinds County District Attorney Jody Owens says the FBI used to lure him into participating in a bribery scheme implicating four local leaders back in 2024.

Owens, former Jackson Mayor Chokwe Antar Lumumba, and former Jackson City Councilman Aaron Banks are facing multiple charges in connection with a scheme to bring a convention center hotel to Jackson.

They were indicted in 2024 and are expected to go to trial this summer…
