Louisiana Marathon takes over Baton Rouge this weekend

BATON ROUGE, La. (WAFB) – The Louisiana Marathon returns to Baton Rouge this weekend, bringing thousands of runners, spectators and visitors downtown for one of the city’s largest annual sporting events.

Organizers say this year’s race weekend will feature runners from all 50 states and participants from at least 15 countries and international regions. France leads international participation with 16 runners, followed by Canada with 14.

The annual event, organized by FreshJunkie Racing, is expected to generate an estimated $5 million in direct economic impact, based on projections from Visit Baton Rouge tied to roughly 9,000 runners, according to Mike Wattigny…
