The streetlights that would usually illuminate major thoroughfares and roadways along several stretches of Jefferson Parish have gone dark due to prolific copper thieves, according to parish officials.
Jefferson Parish Councilman Deano Bonano recently addressed the complaints he’s received over the past few weeks about the large number of streetlights that are out of commission. He placed the blame squarely on crooks looting light poles for copper wiring.
“Just on Earhart alone, they’ve done about $500,000 worth of damage,” Bonano said. “There’s a large stretch that’s dark.”…
