City of Belvidere plans extension of Kishwaukee Riverfront Path

BELVIDERE, Ill. (WTVO) — The city of Belvidere has been awarded a $100,000 grant from the state to extend the Kishwaukee Riverfront Path, enhancing local access to outdoor spaces.

The grant will allow the extension of the path through Belvidere Park and along Appleton Road. This extension will connect the downtown area to surrounding parks, providing additional access for residents and visitors.

The Kishwaukee Riverfront Path will now run through Belvidere Park and connect to Belvidere North High School. Mayor Clint Morris outlined the importance of this connection: “it also runs all the way out on Appleton Road through Belvidere Park, Spencer Park, and then it actually will be connected to Belvidere North High School,” he said. In addition, another pathway planned will link up to Poplar Grove Road and extend north into Boone County. Morris mentioned, “it is the last piece that connects our downtown to the pathways along with the park district.”…
