Near record highs, that’s just another day in the winter of 2025/2026. Sunshine and westerly winds sent temperatures soaring again on Tuesday with afternoon highs in the 60s and 70s. The warmest readings occurred across Northern Arkansas, but there were a few spots that hit 70° north of the state line.
Remember, it is January, and afternoon highs are on average in the mid 40s. And, temperatures this warm will get close to records. In fact, in Springfield and West Plains, afternoon highs only fell 1° shy of the record high for the date.
