Andover Public Schools planning to change cell phone policy

ANDOVER, Kan. (KWCH) – Andover Public Schools plans to change its cell phone policy following recommendations from a work group of parents, students, educators and administrators.

Currently, high school students can keep their phones with them. Under the new policy, they must turn off their phones and keep them in lockers or backpacks. This matches the current middle school policy.

The Andover Task Force says it reviewed research related to the potentially harmful effects that excessive use of cell phones can have on developing brains. Based on input from students, teachers and the District Site Council, as well as the information gathered from research, the group unanimously recommended the new policy…
