Clark County district attorney responds to community concerns in animal abuse case

LAS VEGAS (KLAS) — The Clark County District Attorney’s Office responded to community concerns regarding an animal abuse case where a Henderson man is accused of throwing a cat against a wall and posting it to social media.

Angel Ventura Ayala, 27, faces charges of torturing and terrorizing an animal after a video went viral that appears to show Ayala throwing a cat against a wall and then onto the pavement of a parking lot. Ayala was taken into custody on December 18th, 2025, two days after the video circulated online.

On Wednesday, the district attorney’s office released a statement saying it has received an “overwhelming” response from community members regarding the criminal case State of Nevada vs. Angle Ayala, reflecting the deep concern the community has for animals and accountability in cases like this.

“My office takes animal abuse cases seriously. We almost always get convictions and the appropriate punishment, depending on the facts and circumstances of this case,” Clark County District Attorney Steve Wolfson said. “I have received many, many emails concerning the case of State vs. Angel Ayala. I have personally spoken with the assigned prosecutor, and I’m confident that we will achieve the appropriate amount of justice in this case.”
