2 juveniles facing more than 150 charges in series of car break-ins in Durham, police say

DURHAM, N.C. (WNCN) — Two juveniles are facing more than 150 charges in connection with a series of vehicle break-ins and thefts in Durham last month, police said Wednesday.

According the Durham Police Department, the incidents happened between Dec. 10 and Dec. 20 at both residential and public parking lots in the following locations:

  • 1000 block of Carroll Street
  • 1200 block of Carroll Street
  • 2000 block of Bedford Street
  • 3200 block of Ivey Wood Lane
  • 3700 block of Hillsborough Road
  • 1500 block of Ellis Road
  • 1900 block of West Park Drive
  • 200 block of Memphis Street
  • 5500 block of N.C. 55 Highway
  • 5th block of White Spruce Court
  • 400 block of Valley Drive
  • 1900 block of West Cornwallis Road
  • 100 block of Morris Street

Several vehicles were stolen and others were broken into, according to Durham police.

Police said a total of 156 charges have been filed in connection with the incidents. Each juvenile is facing the same 78 charges:

  • Five counts of felony larceny
  • 33 counts of breaking and entering a motor vehicle
  • Four counts of larceny from a motor vehicle
  • 36 counts of misdemeanor conspiracy

According to Durham police, several other motor vehicle break-ins and thefts in the city are also under investigation.
