First Alert Weather Day for snow Sunday

RICHMOND, Va. (WWBT) – There’s no concrete forecast, only that snow is *possible* according to the latest data.

Sunday Temperatures:

Regardless of how this storm develops, it will be cold enough for snow. Highs on Sunday only in the low to mid 30s.

Different Models:

Our two major long-range models are showing very different solutions.

The American model (GFS) has been depicting a slower system– one that could bring heavier snow to Virginia.

This is a matrix of the GFS ensemble, showing with the model run with 30 times with slightly different initial settings. It shows an average of about 1″ in Richmond

The European has been depicted a quicker system that races off the coast quicker (bringing lower snow totals), the most recent Ensemble shows about 1/2″.

There’s lots of uncertainty at this point– please keep monitoring our forecasts for updates as we get closer…
