Highlands charter revisions fail as Twin Rivers moves closer to revocation vote

SACRAMENTO COUNTY, Calif. — The Twin Rivers Unified School District Board of Trustees voted Tuesday night to reject proposed changes to Highlands’ school sites. This move brings the embattled charter school closer to losing its charter later this month.

The board voted against approving revisions submitted by Highlands and its online and vocational training program, California Innovative Career Academy (CICA), which school leaders said were necessary to bring the charter into compliance with district requirements. The vote comes ahead of a final board decision expected at the end of January on whether to revoke Highlands’ charter altogether.
