Employee sparks support for Wilmington DMV food cart owner waiting out shooting closure

Ed Fisher can remember dealing with a long line at the old New Castle DMV site, realizing a side effect of waiting was hitting his stomach hard.

“It was almost like, ‘okay, I’m starving to death, and the vending machines aren’t doing me any good, so someone needs to put some sort of vending here,’ and that was 15 years ago.”

Fisher’s answer has morphed over time into Ed’s Hot Dogs, which has been stationed in the past in front of places where you typically wouldn’t expect to see food vendors, such as Home Depots and DMV locations.

His cart at the Wilmington DMV is less than 50 feet from the front entrance where a gunman entered, and ultimately shot and killed State Police Corporal Grade One Tyler Snook on December 23, 2025…
