I visited the newest bakery on the scene in Shreveport and the quality and quantity of selections in this sweet little shop surpassed my expectations.
The pastries at Figs Bakery and Cafe looked exquisitely made and tasted even better. I learned that everything is made from scratch at this artisan boulangerie beginning at 3 a.m. by the husband-and-wife team who own the bakery.
The lady standing in line beside me was apparently already a big fan of Figs Bakery, though it just opened last weekend. As I studied the pastries behind the glass, she remarked, “Everything is delicious — you can’t go wrong with any of it,” adding that she thought they had the best chocolate chip cookies. I tried one of the large, thin, and chewy cookies and it was silky and sweet.
I couldn’t get over what I thought were the most beautiful croissants I’ve ever seen, with an almost striped look. And it tasted fabulous as well – soft and airy with a slightly crispy flaky outside…
