A chicken barn went up in flames during a nighttime fire at a western Lawrence County farm near the intersection of State Highway F and Lawrence 1020 on Jan. 11, according to Stotts City Fire Chief, Nathan Schnake. Five fire departments answered the call, including Avilla, who reached out for mutual aid. Sarcoxie Rural Fire, Stotts City, Pierce City and Friestatt departments responded as well.
Schnake said there was no one inside at the time of the fire and no injuries to be reported but estimated that none of the chickens made it out of the blaze. It is currently unknown by the Stotts City Fire Department and the Sarcoxie Rural Fire Department as to what started the fire…
