A 36-year-old woman was discovered fatally beaten last Friday in a parking lot in the Chicago Lawn neighborhood on the 6700 block of South Western Avenue.
She was found unresponsive shortly before 11:30 a.m. and was pronounced dead at the scene.
Authorities initially classified the case as a death inquiry.
Autopsy Finds Blunt Force Head Trauma
An autopsy later revealed that she died from blunt force injuries to her skull sustained during an assault, and the case was ruled a homicide by the Cook County medical examiner’s office, according to the Chicago Sun-Times. Although officials have listed the victim’s age as 36, they have not yet made her name public.
