Man accused of murdering his girlfriend in Broomfield shooting incident pleads not guilty; trial set for May

Gregory Miles, charged with first-degree murder and 22 counts of attempted first-degree murder in a shooting incident with police at a Broomfield apartment complex in 2024, has pleaded not guilty and his case is set for trial starting May 11.

Miles, now 35, entered his plea at a December arraignment in a Broomfield court. Some of the prior delays in the case were due to a medical reason, according to Judge Teri Vasquez at the arraignment. Miles was shot multiple times by officers during the incident in 2024 in a use of force that was deemed justified in a decision letter from Colorado’s 17th Judicial District Attorney’s Office.

Officers were dispatched to the Arista Flats apartment complex at 11332 Central Court in Broomfield on Sept. 12, 2024, after a 911 call alerted police to a disturbance in a unit, the letter said.
